What is HearMe?
a project - requested by our members - that is aimed at providing counselling therapies to everyone in families affected by Parkinson’s – the diagnosed person and their partners, children, or parents.
Whether you and your family are dealing with a new diagnosis, or the impact of the condition on your quality of life and relationships, HearMe may be able to help.
Expressing your feelings as much or as little as you want to a trained counselor in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment can be extremely beneficial. In particular, it can help you review your feelings in a positive way by clarifying the issues, exploring options, and developing strategies.
Will it be suitable for my family?
Everyone’s needs are different, and you can decide if counselling will be right for you by answering a few questions in a confidential form that we will send you. We completely guarantee that all your information will be safe and never used for anything other than introducing you to one of the professional counselors on our team who we feel will meet your needs effectively.
How do I arrange this – and how much will it cost?
Once we have the information and background information from you, we will introduce you to one of our counselors, both of whom are based in Oxfordshire. You will also be free to nominate a counselor of your own choosing, provided that they are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
We will then pay for an initial period of up to six counselling sessions. Following a review, this may be extended to a further six sessions. There will be no cost to you unless you decided to extend the counselling beyond twelve sessions and pay for these yourself.
